New Short Film Has Finally Arrived...Thank you

Michael Ali and DeMarcus Mitchell III star in Devonte Demby's new dark take on what it means to be lost

Our short film, “THE MAN LOST IN THE DARKNESS” is finally here and can be watched on both YouTube or Vimeo.

This has been a long journey. It was in November 2019 when I decided to accept who I was, pick up the camera once again, and create something that was authentic and true to who I am, and who we all are. A lost people.

Pre-2019 I was in a funk creatively and spiritually. It was at that time that I realized we all are lost in some way, form, or fashion, with little hope to ever being found. I turned my fears into stories, and now I’m sharing my subconscious with all of you. Though I still struggle spiritually, and though I have personal demons that I fight daily - I am getting closer.

This project isn’t perfect by any means. There are a lot of improvements that need to be made going forward before we are film festival ready, but I am thankful for this creation.

A huge thank you to anyone who supports us by watching and choosing to enter my mind and hopefully be touched in a way that you do not have to fear those who judge you. You do not have to fear those who are self-righteous. You do not have to run from your demons, but to look in the mirror and face them. Those who judge you see the same darkness as you do. Never forget that.

Thank you to my amazing wife, who is my number one. I couldn’t have completed this without her. She pushes me and keeps me sane. My wife stepped in wherever I needed her. Also, a huge thank you to the first leading man himself, Michael Ali. He is like a brother, and I appreciate him more than he will ever know. I hope we can create more magic soon. He juggled being a father while putting up with my unpreparedness multiple times all because he loves what he does. If you watch any of his performances - That is evident.

Finally, my cousin DeMarcus Mitchell III - my second leading man. He crushed it. I’m proud of him and had so much fun filming with him. He had a sharp mind, and did anything the script called for. From my little sister, Ala, who stepped in, to my twin brother and businessman, Denzel, who was a big help before moving, to the incredible Devin Arnold who nearly lost his voice screaming and Devin Miranda who delivered perfectly because she’s just that good, to Laci, to Courtney, Misty, De’Anthony Terrell and Scarlett Leake…thank you.

Years from now, I want to be able to look at a line of people coming to the theater to see my film and reflect on how excited I used to be when I would get 50 clicks, which is very exciting I might add. That's 50+ people who took the time to see your creation. We are not making any money off this. What you see is pure passion. So again, thank you to the ones who watch, share, and support.

I give the honor and glory to God for loving me where I am spiritually and helping me see this project through. As I continue to look for the light, I hope you all join me by entering the darkness to do so. Because as you should know by now, he is lost, and so are you.
